Wednesday was the Greater Omaha Chamber’s “Buy the Big O! Show” and Schrock made its first ever appearance there. Just as we hoped, our booth was a hit and we had a constant flow of visitors curious to experience our Oculus Rift demo. Our booth reps were interviewed several times by various news outlets interested in running stories about what they had seen.
One of those stories, written by the Omaha World Herald, has already hit the web.
Here’s what they said about our display:
It was Schrock Innovations’ first time at the trade show, and the Oculus Rift virtual reality driving simulator it brought along turned out to be a hit with attendees.
“It is the future of gaming right now,” said Chris Bryson, Schrock corporate operations manager. “We weren’t sure what to expect or how to draw people in, but it seems like it’s working.”
He said the headsets wouldn’t be available to the public for at least a year, but they are available to developers who are interested in creating software for the new technology.
Bryson said the computer repair and service business’s main goal at the show was to network and interact with small businesses that might need information technology services, which Schrock provides for companies with 60 or fewer computers.
Tracey Fricke, senior director of special events with the chamber, said Schrock was among several new exhibitors this year.
“The energy feels great. It’s a great day for businesses. They need to be here.”
